PRESS RELEASE Alan Ames Goes To WAR
Alan Ames has been contracted by the infamous 70’s funk-rock-R&B musical group WAR as Supervising Video Producer & Lighting Director of their 2008 DVD release recorded at the Grove Theater in Los Angeles. “I met the band while shooting The Homeland Salute to our Troops for Texas Roadhouse Livein SturgisSouth Dakota and we immediately bonded,” said Ames. “They participated in the show and we shot some great footage of them. Then their management contacted me wanting to do their own DVD and things just came together brilliantly.” So much so, that Ames was enlisted to Direct their lighting for two sold out concerts at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles May 24 & 25 2008.
Joel Brandes and Jerry Goldstein, the bands management, attended the concerts and immediately requested Ames to create a full lighting design and plot for the band’s Summer 08’ tour and train their in-house personnel to operate and call the shows visual cues.
“War is as good a musical group as they ever were. In fact they’re better and more refined. They put on an excellent show and the fans always give them a standing ovation. It is a pleasure to work with them, and I look forward to their resurgence in American Pop Culture world-wide. Rumor has it that they will be performing a reunion concert with Eric Burdon sometime later this year in follow up to a one-night reunion they had last April at the Albert Hall, which received rave reviews, and I can’t wait to be part of that.”
