PRESS RELEASE The Fabulous Thunderbirds Live @ The Houston Solution Premieres on HD NET
ActiveMusic and Alan Ames and Associates are pleased to announce that their television special, “The Fabulous Thunderbirds: Live at the Houston Solution held it’s World Premiere on HD NET ( http://www.hdnetmovies.com ) March 30th 2008.
The program held at Warehouse Live in Houston, Texas June 30th 2006, was a live benefit concert for the New Orleans Musician’s Clinic in conjunction with local Houston charities The Houston Society for the Performing Arts and The Children’s Museum of Houston who are working in consort together to provide relief for musicians affected by hurricane Katrina. These organizations are employing displaced New Orleans musicians in special cultural programs in the greater Houston area.
The event was honored by Houston Mayor Bill White with a Proclamation citing June 30th 2006 as “Houston Solution for Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert Day.”
Performances included in the live event, but not released in this program included Carolyn Wonderland, Johnette Napolitano, the Soul Rebels Brass Band, and was hosted by then Texas gubernatorial candidate Kinky Freidman. A second television special will be released later this year entitled, “The Houston Solution for Hurricane Relief Featuring: Kinky Freidman, Carolyn Wonderland, Johnette Napolitano and special encore performance of The Fabulous Thunderbirds joined by Carolyn, Johnette and Kinky.
Both ActiveMusic and Alan Ames and Associates have been actively involved in numerous events and activities in support of Hurricane Relief and the “Green” rebuilding of New Orleans with special emphasis on the Musician’s Village and 9th Ward restoration projects. Both organizations have take a ten year oath to continue sponsoring such events as well as educational programs addressing the issues still unresolved as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
ActiveMusic and Alan Ames and Associates are currently involved with Global Green US and are auctioning off the first of its kind “Green” Piano donated by Gibson/Baldwin which was performed on by “Fats” Domino and Art Neville in New Orleans during the 2007 Jazz Festival. The piano has since been used in the recording sessions of Ray Brown JR’s upcoming “Duets” Album entitled “Friends and Family.” After their recording sessions the following artists added their signatures to this groundbreaking instrument: Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, David “Fathead” Newman, Lonnie Smith, Dione Warwick, Paul Williams, Terry Gibbs, David Sommerville, James Moody, Terry Gibbs, Spphie B Hawkins, Freeda Payne, Melba Moore and Ray Brown JR.
